working out - top training exercises
There is a lot of information out there about working out, books, magazines, and all sorts of information online. I have been trying to keep a fairly general approach to mention some key things to remember while working out, some insight on work out programs, and diets. Now I want to mention some of the top training exercises that are out there and why. As you will see, some of these are more of a sport than just an exercise but the principles are very similar. Studies have found yoga and martial arts as the top exercises to do for overall health. This being physical and mental health. I would personally include spiritual health in there as well but that depends on the person. Martial arts, there are several different styles and as most will agree is considered more of a sport than an exercise. There are several key things that all martial arts focus on that make them so good for the body. There is a lot that differ and again since I have a decent knowledge on that as well I will write again shortly on martial arts. Martial arts and yoga are considered very good for the body because they offer full range of motion for every body part. Particularly, movement of the arms above the head. You may notice that as people get older there is very little reason to reach above your head and eventually your movement will be limited to where you can not reach about your head when or if you needed to. This is not good for your circulation. Flexibility is key in keeping your body from getting injured though pulled muscles or any other strain that you put on your body. Strength training, both yoga and martial arts physically work out your muscles using the weight of your body or very little equipment. Working out your whole body allows for a better posture, better physical balance, and are considered a low impact exercise (sparring is not low impact). Breathing is the next key element. Breathing allows you to get oxygen to your body. Yoga and Martial arts focuses on teaching proper breathing. This is what allows proper movement of energy. It is also a big factor in releasing built up stress. These exercises can lower LDL (bad) cholesterol and raise HDL (good) cholesterol. They will also help in managing your blood pressure and reduce your risk of type 2 diabetes, among the number of health benefits that come from working out in general. The key to these exercises is Flexibility (full range of motion), complete strength training, and breathing. There are many styles of Martial Arts, and now many styles of Yoga as well, there are still even more classes, exercises and sports out there that share the similar traits, a few would be: gymnastics, circuit training, certain boot camp based work outs, tennis, and swimming. When working out, or training for any particular sport, there is always a level of cross training that is going to happen. Athletes that want to be in top physical shape for their sport are going to run to increase their speed and endurance and train with weights to increase their strength and they will stretch to increase their flexibility. They do all this on top of training and practicing their craft. Often times when people play sports or start playing again after years off, they forget about all the training behind it when they were younger and don't properly prepare their bodies for it. Make sure in your workouts that you make sure you are including these three elements to properly train your body. As always I will also mention that you should not eat junk food, train your body properly and feed it properly. |
